Universal Studios has hosted diverse TV programs such as Guiding Light;The Ellen Degeneres Show ; America's Most Wanted and two one-hour specials of the durable NBC reality show Fear Factor. TNA, today's popular contemporary wrestling show, is taped in Stage 21 - (adjacent to the park) and has evolved as an 'attraction' to park guests. The popular recording group CREED selected the Universal Studios Florida Backlot to record their award winning music video "My Sacrifice" where a three-foot basin of water (400,000 gallons worth) flooded half of 5th Avenue in the New York area. Simultaneous to the music video, MTV taped a special edition of "Making of the Video" for a behind the scenes broadcast. Many of the world's most popular music artists; Shakira, German boy-band US5, Dashboard Confessions, Britney Spears and 'NSYNC, have conducted tour preparation at Universal Studios using Sound Stages for choreography, rehearsal, staging, lighting and still photography. In addition to supporting video productions, the Backlots have also featured in still photography for multi-page layouts of the glossy publications harry and Makes & Models.
The history of the Universal Studios Florida Stages and Backlots include major comedy blockbusters starring Steve Martin and Adam Sander. The horror thriller Altered produced by the Blair Witch team, Haxan Films and distributed by Universal subsidiary Rogue Pictures and Larry the Cable Guy, Health Inspector featuring one of the most popular characters of the hit show Blue Collar TV. Both Altered and Larry the Cable Guy, Health Inspector were filmed under the auspice of the Universal Studios Florida Production Group Stage 20 Initiative. This special program offered use of the Universal Studios Florida Sound Stage 20 at a discount of 80% to independent films that qualify under set budget parameters and hire a majority of crew within the Florida area.
